1991 Pontiac F-cars with automatic transmissions are equipped with an adjustable "PRNDL" lens to aid in "PRNDL" alignment. The following steps will help to properly align the shift indicator with the "PRNDL" lens.
1. Place transmission shift lever into the "P" park position. Turn interior lights on to make shift indicator visible.
2. Push down on the lens and move the lens forward or rearward to align the lens with the indicator in the "P" park position.
3. Shift transmission to the overdrive position.
4. If necessary, move the lens to align indicator at overdrive position.
5. Shift transmission back into the "P" park position and observe the indicator alignment. If necssary, readjust the "PRNDL" lens to achieve the best indicator alignment at the "P" park and overdrive positions.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
