Throttle Body Assembly Replacement Repair

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 12814  Size: SH
  1. Drain the radiator coolant.
  2. Remove the air intake tube.
  3. Remove the TP sensor, MAF sensor, and ECT sensor electrical connectors.
  4. Remove the accelerator control cable bracket.
  5. Remove the accelerator control and cruise control cables.
  6. Remove the nuts and bolts holding the throttle body to the intake manifold.
  7. Notice: Do not use solvent of any type when cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as damage to the gasket surfaces and throttle body assembly may result.

    Use care in cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as sharp tools may damage the gasket surfaces.

  8. Remove the throttle body assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. A new gasket, if necessary.
  2. Install the throttle body assembly.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the throttle body retaining nuts and bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the throttle body retaining nuts and bolts to 10 N·m (7 lb ft).

  6. Install the TP sensor, MAF sensor, and ECT sensor electrical connectors.
  7. Install the accelerator control and cruise control cables.
  8. Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
  9. The throttle should operate freely without binding between full closed and wide open throttle. Refer to Fuel Supply Components
  10. Install the accelerator control cable bracket.
  11. Install the air intake tube.
  12. Refill the radiator to replace the lost coolant.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air intake tube.
  2. Remove the snap ring.
  3. Remove the throttle body air inlet screen.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the throttle body air inlet screen.
  2. Install the snap ring.
  3. Install the air intake tube.
