Removal Procedure

J 41099 Solenoid Socket

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable assembly from the battery negative terminal. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

    in General Information.
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to General Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information.
  3. Support the vehicle with safety stands.

  5. Remove the electrical connector from the reverse lockout solenoid.

  6. Object Number: 33359  Size: SH
  7. Remove the following parts:
  8. 5.1. The reverse lockout bolt
    5.2. The reverse lockout assembly
    5.3. The reverse lockout solenoid using the J 41099 .

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 33359  Size: SH
  1. Install the reverse lockout solenoid using the J 41099
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the solenoid to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

  3. Install the lockout assembly and the attaching bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the electrical connector on the reverse lockout solenoid.
  6. Remove the safety stands from the vehicle.
  7. Lower the vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 38205  Size: SH
  9. Connect the battery negative cable assembly to the battery negative terminal.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the terminal bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
