Removal Procedure

The 5-speed and the 6-speed manual transmission assembly mountings are similar. The shape of the mount is different. Use the following procedure for both transmissions.

  1. Remove the battery negative cable assembly. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to General Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information.
  3. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
  4. Support the transmission assembly with a transmission stand.

  6. Remove the following parts:
  7. 5.1. The mount nut
    5.2. The mount nut washer
    5.3. The support bolts
    5.4. The transmission support

  8. Remove the transmission mount bolts.
  9. Remove the transmission mount.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 33323  Size: SH
  1. Install the following:
  2. 1.1. The transmission mount
    1.2. The transmission mount bolts

    Tighten
    Tighten the mount bolts to 48 N·m (36 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the following parts:
  4. 2.1. The transmission support
    2.2. The transmission support bolts
    2.3. The transmission mount nut washer
    2.4. The transmission mount nut

    Tighten

        • Tighten the support bolts to 57 N·m (43 lb ft).
        • Tighten the mount nut to 57 N·m (43 lb ft).
  5. Remove the transmission stand.
  6. Remove the safety stands.
  7. Lower the vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 38205  Size: SH
  9. Connect the battery negative cable assembly.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the terminal bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
