Check for low oil level in the transmission. Refer to Transmission Fluid Inspection or to Transmission Fluid Inspection .

Check the transmission for improper lubricant. Refer to Lubrication Specifications .

Is the recommended lubricant being used?

Replenish the oil to the level of the oil fill plug.

Drain and refill the transmission with the recommended lubricant.

Check for loose clutch housing bolts. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

Are the bolts tightened to specifications?

  1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Removal or to Transmission Removal .
  2. Disassemble the transmission. Refer to Transmission Disassemble or to Transmission Disassemble .
  3. Look for the following list of causes:
  4. 3.1. Gearshift components are worn or damaged.
    3.2. Transmission gears are worn or damaged.
    3.3. Bearing components are worn or damaged.
  5. Replace all worn or damaged parts.

Tighten the clutch housing bolts to the specified torque.
