Exhaust Manifold Installation Left Side


    Object Number: 36635  Size: SH
  1. Install the exhaust manifold gasket to the cylinder head.
  2. Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the exhaust manifold nuts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  6. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
  7. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

    Important: Inspect the EGR inlet pipe for leaks. Replace the EGR adapter if the pipe leaks.

  9. Install the EGR inlet pipe to the exhaust manifold.
  10. Install the EGR inlet pipe bolt and nuts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 50 N·m (36 lb ft) and the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft) .

  12. Install the left heated oxygen sensor into the exhaust manifold.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the sensor to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  14. Connect the heated oxygen electrical connector to the support bracket.

  1. Install the exhaust manifold gasket to the cylinder head.
  2. Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.

  4. Install the exhaust manifold nuts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  6. Install the exhaust manifold heat shields.
  7. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the heat shield nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  9. Install the right heated oxygen sensor into the exhaust manifold.
  10. Install the heated oxygen sensor electrical connector to the lift bracket.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the heated oxygen sensor to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).
