Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement 3.8L V6
Removal Procedure
Important: Care must be taken when handling the engine coolant temperature (ECT)
sensor, damage to the sensor will affect proper operation of the fuel injection
system.
- Drain the engine coolant.

Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
- Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor (1) electrical connector.
- Remove the coolant temperature sensor (1).
Installation Procedure
- Coat the sensor threads
with sealer GM P/N 12346004 or equivalent.
- Install the coolant temperature sensor (1) into the engine.
- Tighten the coolant temperature sensor (1).
Tighten
Tighten the coolant temperature sensor (1) to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Connect the coolant temperature sensor (1) electrical connector.
- Refill the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.

Removal Procedure
Important: Care must be taken when handling the engine coolant temperature (ECT)
sensor. Damage to the sensor will affect proper operation of the fuel injection
system.
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to

.
- Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the number 1 spark plug wire.
- Remove the coolant temperature sensor.
Installation Procedure
- Coat the sensor threads with sealer GM P/N 12346004 or equivalent.
- Install the coolant temperature sensor.
- Tighten the coolant temperature sensor.
Tighten
Tighten the coolant temperature sensor to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install the number 1 spark plug wire.
- Connect the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector.
- Refill the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
