Horn Switch Replacement - On Vehicle Pontiac
Removal Procedure
- Remove the inflatable
restraint steering wheel module (1). Refer to
Steering Wheel Inflator Module Replacement
.
- Remove the horn wiring connector from the steering column.
- Remove the bolts/screws (6).
- Remove the horn switch (2) from the steering wheel (4).
Installation Procedure
- Position the horn switch
(2) to the steering wheel (4).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts/screws
(6).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts/screws (6) to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).
- Install the horn wiring connector to the steering column.
- Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module (1). Refer
to
Steering Wheel Inflator Module Replacement
.
Horn Switch Replacement - On Vehicle Chevrolet
Removal Procedure
- Remove the inflatable
restraint steering wheel module (4). Refer to
Steering Wheel Inflator Module Replacement
.
- Remove the bolt/screw (3).
- Use the following steps in order to remove the horn switch (2)
from the inflatable restraint steering wheel module (4) :
3.1. | Lift up on the edge of the module cover at the horn button. This
action provides access to the horn switches. |
3.2. | Press the lock tang. |
3.3. | Remove the horn switch (2). |
3.4. | Repeat the above steps in order to remove the remaining horn switch. |
Installation Procedure
- Use the following steps
in order to install the horn switch (2) to the inflatable restraint steering
wheel module (4).
1.1. | Lift up on the edge of the module cover at the horn button. |
1.2. | Install the horn switch (2). |
1.3. | Repeat the above steps for the remaining horn switch. |
