Tools Required

1. Remove the propeller shaft assembly. Refer to One-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in Propeller Shaft.
2. Remove the main shaft seal using J 23907 and J 26941 .

Tools Required

J 39440 Extension Housing Seal Installer

1. Install the main shaft seal using J 39440 .
2. Lubricate the inside diameter of the seal. Use only Dexron® III automatic transmission fluid.
3. Install the propeller shaft assembly. Refer to One-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in Propeller Shaft.
4. Inspect the transmission fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Level Inspection .
5. Add transmission fluid, if necessary.
