This bulletin contains information regarding revised service tool J 36418-1B.
Kent-Moore will be shipping this essential tool to all applicable dealers
in mid-July 1999. This tool replaces J 36418-1A. The modification in
J 36418-1B allows installation of turbine shaft seals for 300 mm
(11.8 in) torque converter applications.
Important: The new turbine shaft seal installer supersedes the previous tool. The
new turbine shaft seal installer functions on all current and past model 4L60-E
transmissions.
The revised turbine shaft seal installer aids in the installation
of turbine shaft seals without damage or over stretching of the seals. The
external appearance of the new turbine shaft seal installer is identical to
the previous turbine shaft seal installer. The threaded head of the revised
turbine shaft seal installer has been bored to allow the tube to travel over
the turbine shaft an additional 25.4 mm (1.00 in). It became
necessary to increase the capacity of the current turbine shaft seal installer
due to the increased length of the turbine shaft with the 300 mm (11.8 in)
torque converter application.
