Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 223003 Size: SH
  1. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement , or Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side or Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side .
  2. Remove the exhaust heat shield bolts (2, 3).
  3. Remove the exhaust heat shield (1).

    4. Object Number: 223006 Size: SH
  4. Unhook the exhaust heat shield from the converter heat shield.
  5. Remove the exhaust heat shield.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 223006 Size: SH
  1. Install the exhaust heat shield.
  2. Hook the exhaust heat shield to the converter heat shield.

    3. Object Number: 223003 Size: SH
  3. Install the exhaust heat shield (1).

    4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the exhaust heat shield bolts (2, 3).

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust heat shield bolt to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Install the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement , Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side or Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side .
