Intake Manifold Removal F Car


    Object Number: 58838 Size: SH

    Important: The intake manifold, throttle body, fuel injection rail, and fuel injectors may be removed as an assembly. If not servicing the individual components, remove the manifold as a complete assembly.

  1. Remove the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor, if required.

    2. Object Number: 639606 Size: SH
  2. Disconnect the knock sensor wire harness connector (1) from the fuel rail stop bracket (2).

    3. Object Number: 379366 Size: SH
  3. Remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve pipe from the left rocker cover, if required.

    4. Object Number: 379367 Size: MH
  4. Remove the PCV valve pipe strap nut.
  5. Remove the PCV valve pipe from the right rocker cover and intake manifold.

    6. Object Number: 490927 Size: SH

    Caution: The fuel rail stop bracket must be installed onto the engine assembly. The stop bracket serves as a protective shield for the fuel rail in the event of a vehicle frontal crash. If the fuel rail stop bracket is not installed and the vehicle is involved in a frontal crash, fuel could be sprayed possibly causing a fire and personal injury from burns.

  6. Remove the fuel rail bolts.

    7. Remove the intake manifold bolts (1) and fuel rail stop bracket (2).

  7. Remove the engine coolant air bleed clamp and hose from the throttle body.
  8. Remove the intake manifold.

    9. Object Number: 490579 Size: SH
  9. Remove the intake manifold-to-cylinder head gaskets (1).
  10. Discard the gaskets.

    11. Object Number: 490573 Size: SH
  11. Remove the throttle cable bracket (2) and bolt (1) from the manifold, if required.

    Important: The intake manifold, throttle body, fuel injection rail, and fuel injectors may be removed as an assembly. If not servicing the individual components, remove the manifold as a complete assembly.

    DO NOT reuse the intake manifold-to-cylinder head gaskets.

  1. Remove the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor, if required.

    2. Object Number: 639835 Size: SH
  2. Disconnect the knock sensor wire harness connector (1) from the fuel rail stop bracket (2).

    3. Object Number: 379366 Size: SH
  3. Remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve pipe from the left rocker cover - LS1.

    4. Object Number: 379367 Size: MH
  4. Remove the PCV valve pipe strap nut - LS1.
  5. Remove the PCV valve pipe from the right rocker cover and intake manifold - LS1.

    6. Object Number: 668802 Size: SH
  6. Remove the PCV valve pipe (1) from the valley cover and intake manifold - LS6.

    7. Object Number: 490927 Size: SH

  7. Remove the fuel rail bolts.

    8. Remove the intake manifold bolts (1) and fuel rail stop bracket (2).

  8. Note the location of the fuel rail ground strap (1) on the intake manifold.

    9. The fuel rail ground strap must be installed during assembly.

  9. Remove the engine coolant air bleed pipe hose from the throttle body.
  10. Remove the intake manifold.

    11. Object Number: 490579 Size: SH
  11. Remove the manifold-to-cylinder head gaskets (1) from the intake manifold.
  12. Discard the intake manifold gaskets.
