Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 208480  Size: SH
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor electrical connector.

  3. Object Number: 481937  Size: SH
  4. Remove the vehicle speed sensor bolt (2).
  5. Remove the vehicle speed sensor (1) and the O-ring seal (3).
  6. Use a suitable container in order to catch any transmission fluid that may spill.

  7. Inspect the transmission speed sensor for the following defects:
  8. • Cracks
    • Nicks
    • Damage

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 481937  Size: SH
  1. Install the vehicle speed sensor (1) with a new O-ring seal (3).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the vehicle speed sensor bolt (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the vehicle speed sensor bolt (2) to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  5. Connect the vehicle speed sensor electrical connector.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Check transmission fluid, add as required.
