Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement 3.8L

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 656031  Size: LH
  1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Place a drain pan under the power steering pump (7) and the power steering gear (5) .
  3. Remove the power steering pressure hose (6) from the power steering pump (7).
  4. Remove the power steering pressure hose (6) from the power steering gear (5).
  5. Remove the power steering pressure hose (6) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 656031  Size: LH
  1. Install the power steering pressure hose (6) to the vehicle.
  2. Install the power steering pressure hose (6) to the power steering gear (5).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the power steering pressure hose (6) to the power steering gear (5).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  6. Install the power steering pressure hose (6) to the power steering pump (7).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement 5.7L

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 656257  Size: LH
  1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the power steering pressure hose  (6) from the power steering gear  (3).
  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Remove the power steering pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  5. Remove the power steering pressure hose  (6) from the power steering pump  (9).
  6. Remove the power steering pressure hose (6) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pressure hose (6) to the vehicle.

  3. Install the power steering pressure hose (6) to the power steering pump (9).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb  ft).

  5. Install the power steering pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  6. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  7. Install the power steering pressure hose (6) to the power steering gear (3).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
