Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  2. Remove HVAC control assembly screws.
  3. Remove the HVAC control assembly from the instrument panel to access the following connections:
  4. • Vacuum
    • Electrical
    • Temperature cable

  5. Disconnect the vacuum harness connector from the HVAC control assembly.

  6. Object Number: 282917  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the following electrical connectors from the HVAC control assembly:
  8. • HVAC mode switch (1)
    • HVAC control illumination (2)
    • HVAC blower switch (3)
    • Rear defogger (4)
  9. Remove the temperature control cable (5) from the HVAC control assembly.
  10. When releasing the control cable clips, use a small screwdriver to remove the cable from the control.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the temperature control cable connector (5) to the HVAC control assembly.
  2. Connect the following electrical connectors to the HVAC control assembly:
  3. • Rear defogger (4)
    • HVAC blower switch (3)
    • HVAC control illumination (2)
    • HVAC mode switch (1)

  4. Connect the vacuum harness connector to the HVAC control assembly.

  5. Object Number: 282916  Size: SH
  6. Install the HVAC control assembly.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the HVAC control assembly screws.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2.2 N·m (19 lb in).

  10. Install the accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
