Did you review the Exterior Lighting System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Go to Symptoms - Lighting Systems

1. Turn the ignition to the RUN position.
2. Place the headlamp switch in the HEAD position.
3. Place the headlamp dimmer switch in the HIGH BEAM position.

Does the high beam indicator illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
2. Place the headlamp switch in the HEAD position.
3. Place the headlamp dimmer switch in the HIGH BEAM position.
4. Connect a test lamp from the high beam supply circuit of the instrument cluster connector to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Test for and repair a poor connection in the headlamp high beam supply circuit of the instrument cluster. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and repair a poor connection?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 6

Repair the open in the headlamp high beam supply circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 7

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 7

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
