Turn the headlamp switch to the ON position.

Do the headlamp doors open?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Are the headlamps ON?

Go to Step 4

Go to Low and High Beams Headlamps Inoperative

Are both headlamp doors inoperative?

Go to Step 6

  1. Determine if the LH or RH headlamp door is inoperative.
  2. Inspect the corresponding HDLP DR Fuse.

Is the LH or RH HDLP DR Fuse open?

Go to Step 17

  1. Move the headlight switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the headlamp door control module.
  3. Probe the headlamps supply voltage circuit of the headlamp door control module connector with a test lamp that is connected to ground.
  4. Move the headlight switch to the HEAD position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Probe the parklamp supply voltage circuit of the headlamp door control module connector with a test lamp that is connected to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Probe the ground circuit of the headlamp door control module connector with a test lamp that is connected to battery voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 18

  1. Move the headlight switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the headlamp door control module connector.
  3. Determine if the LH or RH headlamp door is inoperative.
  4. Probe corresponding HDLP DR Fuse's battery positive voltage circuit of the headlamp door control module connector with a test lamp that is connected to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 10

Is the inoperative headlamp door in the closed position?

Go to Step 11

  1. Connect the headlamp door control module connector.
  2. Disconnect the inoperative headlamp door motor connector.
  3. Probe the headlamp door up circuit of the inoperative headlamp door motor connector with a test lamp that is connected to ground.
  4. Place the headlight switch to the HEAD position.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the headlamp switch is placed in the HEAD position?

Go to Step 12

  1. Move the headlight switch to the OFF position.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the headlamp door up circuit and the headlamp door down circuit of the inoperative headlamp door motor connector.
  3. Move the headlight switch to the HEAD position.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the headlamp switch is placed in the HEAD position?

Go to Step 19

  1. Connect the headlamp door control module connector.
  2. Place the headlight switch to the HEAD position.
  3. Disconnect the inoperative headlamp door motor connector.
  4. Probe the headlamp door down circuit of the inoperative headlamp door motor connector with a test lamp that is connected to ground.
  5. Place the headlight switch to the OFF position.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the headlamp switch is placed in the OFF position?

Go to Step 14

  1. Move the headlight switch to the HEAD position.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the headlamp door up circuit and the headlamp door down circuit of the inoperative headlamp door motor connector.
  3. Move the headlight switch to the OFF position.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the headlamp switch is placed in the OFF position?

Test for an open, high resistance or short to voltage in the headlamp door up circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for an open, high resistance, or short to voltage in the headlamp door down circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for a short to ground in the following circuits:

    • The LH or RH headlamp motor down circuit
    • The LH or RH headlamp motor up circuit
    • The battery positive voltage circuit of the LH or RH HDLP DR Fuse

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the headlamp door control module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the headlamp door motor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the battery positive voltage circuit of the corresponding HDLP DR Fuse. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the headlamp suuply voltage circuit of the headlamp door control module. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the parklamps supply voltage circuit of the headlamp door control module. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the headlamp door control module. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
