Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn the headlamps on.
  2. Turn the front fog lamp switch on.
  3. Turn the rear fog lamps switch on.

Does the rear fog lamp indicator illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Do the rear fog lamps operate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Fog Lamps Inoperative

  1. Leave the headlamps on.
  2. Leave the front fog lamps on.
  3. Leave the rear fog lamps on.
  4. Backprobe the supply voltage circuit of the rear fog lamp switch indicator with a test lamp that is connected to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

Repair a poor connection or open in the supply voltage circuit of the rear fog lamp switch indicator . Refer to Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the rear fog lamp switch. Refer to Rear Fog Lamp Switch Replacement

  1. Turn the headlamp switch ON.
  2. Turn the headlamp dimmer switch to the LOW BEAM position.
  3. Turn the fog lamp switch ON.

Does the fog lamp indicator illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Do the fog lamps operate properly?

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the fog lamp switch connector.
  2. Probe the ground circuit of the fog lamp switch indicator with a test that is connected to battery positive voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the fog lamp switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 8

Repair an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the fog lamp switch indicator. Refer to Wiring Repairs or to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Backprobe the supply voltage circuit of the fog lamp switch indicator with a test lamp that is connected to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the fog lamp switch.
  2. Probe the ground circuit of the fog lamp switch with a test lamp that is connected to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

  1. Disconnect the fog lamp switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the high beam supply voltage circuit of the fog lamp switch and battery positive voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the fog lamp switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
