Is the fasten safety belt indicator on?

Go to Fasten Safety Belt Indicator/Chime Always On in Seat Belts

Go to Step 3

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Make sure the headlamp switch is in the off position.

Are the headlamps on?

Go to Headlamp Low or High Beams Always On in Lighting Systems

Go to Step 4

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Make sure the LF door is closed.
3. Disconnect the BCM connector C3.
4. Test the signal circuit of the driver door lock for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 10

Important: Refer to SIR Service Precautions in Restraints before working in the steering column.

1. Take the key out of the ignition.
2. Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit of the ignition key alarm switch and B+. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 8

1. Disconnect C216.
2. Leave the test lamp at the same location.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 9

Repair a short to ground in the control circuit of the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 10

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Go to Step 10

Replace the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Steering Column Lock Cylinder Set - Disassemble - Off Vehicle and Steering Column Lock Cylinder Set - Assemble - Off Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
