Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement Automatic

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 341078  Size: SH
  1. Turn the ignition key to the RUN position (4).

  2. Object Number: 782631  Size: SH
  3. Place the shift lever in the NEUTRAL position.
  4. Remove the shift control knob. Refer to Floor Shift Control Knob Replacement in Automatic Transmission-4L60-E.
  5. Open the console armrest door.

  6. Object Number: 367401  Size: SH
  7. Remove the coin holder from inside the console.

  8. Object Number: 380886  Size: SH
  9. Unsnap the switch plate (2) from the floor console.
  10. Disconnect the electrical connectors (4) from the switches (1, 3), if equipped.

  11. Object Number: 296126  Size: SH
  12. Remove the console trim plate bolts (2).
  13. Disconnect the PRNDL lamp connector.
  14. Disconnect the cigarette lighter electrical connector.
  15. Remove the console trim plate (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 296126  Size: SH
  1. Position the console trim plate (1) over the shift lever.
  2. Connect the cigarette lighter electrical connector.
  3. Connect the PRNDL lamp connector.
  4. Insert the forward end of the trim plate (1) into the console.
  5. Apply pressure to the console trim plate (1) and snap the trim plate (1) into place.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the console trim plate bolts (2).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Snap the switch plate (2) to the floor console.
  10. Connect the electrical connectors (4) to the switches (1, 3), if equipped.

  11. Object Number: 367401  Size: SH
  12. Install the coin holder to inside the console.
  13. Close the console armrest door.
  14. Install the shift control knob. Refer to Floor Shift Control Knob Replacement in Automatic Transmission-4L60-E.

  15. Object Number: 782630  Size: SH
  16. Place the shift lever in the PARK position.

  17. Object Number: 782647  Size: SH
  18. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position (2).

Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement Manual

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 296131  Size: SH
  1. Remove the shift lever knob. Refer to Transmission Control Lever Knob Replacement in Manual Transmission - M49 or to Transmission Control Lever Knob Replacement in Manual Transmission - MM6.
  2. Open the console armrest door.
  3. Remove the coin holder from inside the console.
  4. Unsnap the console accessory trim plate from the floor console.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the switches, if equipped.
  6. Remove the console trim plate bolts (1). Lift up on the trim plate.
  7. Disconnect the ashtray lamp connector.
  8. Disconnect the cigarette lighter electrical connector.
  9. Remove the console trim plate (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 296131  Size: SH
  1. Position the trim plate (2) over the shift lever.
  2. Connect the cigarette lighter electrical connector.
  3. Connect the ashtray lamp connector.
  4. Insert the forward end of the trim plate (2) into the console.
  5. Apply pressure to the console trim plate (2) and snap the trim plate into place.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   7. Install the bolts (1) to the console trim plate.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Connect the electrical connectors to the switches, if equipped.
  10. Snap in the console accessory trim plate.
  11. Install the coin holder to the inside of the console.
  12. Close the console armrest door.
  13. Snap the console accessory bin to the console, if equipped.
  14. Install the shift lever knob. Refer to Transmission Control Lever Knob Replacement in Manual Transmission - M49 or to Transmission Control Lever Knob Replacement in Manual Transmission - MM6.
