Did you perform the Body Rear End Diagnostic System Check?

Close the rear compartment.

Does the hatch ajar indicator illuminate?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Disconnect the body control module (BCM).

Does the hatch ajar indicator illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 6

Disconnect the rear compartment lid ajar indicator switch.

Does the hatch ajar indicator illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

Test the rear compartment lid ajar indicator switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 8

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the body control module (BCM). Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 10

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear compartment lid ajar indicator switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the instrument panel cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 11

Replace the rear compartment lid ajar switch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Important: Perform the set up procedure for the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
