J 33049 Camshaft
Bearing Service Set
Important: A loose camshaft bearing may be caused by an enlarged, out of round
or damaged engine block bearing bore.
- Prior to bearing removal, inspect the camshaft bearings for loose fit
in the engine block bearing bores.
- Repair or replace the components as required.
- Select the expanding driver (4-8)
and washer (2 or 3) from the tool usage information.
- Assemble the tool.
- Insert the J 33049
through the front of the engine block
and to the bearing bore.
- Install the new bearing onto the tool.
- Tighten the expander assembly nut until snug.
- Push the guide cone into the front camshaft bearing to align the
tool.
- Properly align the oil hole in the bearing with the oil gallery
in the engine block.
- Drive the bearing into the block bore.
Important: To install the front camshaft bearing, operate the tool from the rear
of the block using the guide cone in the rear camshaft bearing bore.
- Repeat the above procedures to install the remaining bearings.
- Check the installed bearing for proper alignment of the oil gallery
holes.
