Removal Procedure

    Notice: Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.

  1. Remove the inner and outer brake pads. Refer to Rear Disc Brake Pads Replacement .

    2. Object Number: 177036 Size: SH

    Important: The caliper bracket mounting bolts and bolt holes must be thoroughly cleaned of any debris and threadlocking compound after removal.

  2. Remove the caliper bracket mounting bolts (2).
  3. Remove any threadlocking compound from the bolt threads and clean the threads with denatured alcohol, or equivalent.
  4. Remove the caliper bracket (1).
  5. Remove any threadlocking compound from the bolt hole threads and clean the threads with denatured alcohol, or equivalent.

Installation Procedure
  1. Lubricate the following components with silicone grease:
    2. • New bolt boots
    • New bushings

  2. Install the following components into the caliper bracket (1):
    3. • The bolt boots (2)
    • The bushings
  3. Apply threadlocker GM U.S. P/N 12345493, Canada P/N 10953488, to the bolt threads.

    4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the caliper bracket with the bracket bolts.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the caliper bolts to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).

  5. Install the inner and outer brake pads. Refer to Rear Disc Brake Pads Replacement .
