Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant.
Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the A/C compressor hose assembly bolt from the accumulator.
- Discard the O-ring.
- Remove the negative battery
cable nut and cable from the engine block.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the A/C compressor
hose assembly bolt from the A/C compressor.
- Discard the sealing washers.
- Remove the A/C compressor
hose assembly nut from the condenser.
- Discard the O-ring.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the A/C compressor hose assembly from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Lightly coat the O-rings with a mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant
oil.
- Install the A/C compressor hose assembly to the vehicle.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Install a new O-ring.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the A/C compressor hose nut to the condenser.
Tighten
Tighten the A/C compressor hose assembly nut to the condenser to 16 N·m
(12 lb ft).
- Install the new sealing
washers.
- Install the A/C compressor hose assembly bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the A/C compressor hose assembly bolt to 33 N·m
(24 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the negative battery
cable and nut to the engine block.
Tighten
Tighten the negative battery cable nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install a new O-ring.
- Install the A/C compressor hose assembly bolt to the accumulator.
Tighten
Tighten the A/C compressor hose assembly bolt at the accumulator to
16 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A
.

Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant.

- Remove the A/C compressor hose assembly from the fan shroud clip(s).
- Remove the A/C compressor hose assembly from the accumulator.
- Discard the O-ring.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the A/C compressor
hose assembly nut from the condenser.
- Discard the O-ring.
- Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to
Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement
.
- Remove the A/C compressor hose assembly from the vehicle.
- Discard the sealing washers.
Installation Procedure
Lightly coat the O-rings with the mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant

- Install a new sealing washers to the A/C compressor hose assembly.
- Install the compressor hose assembly to the vehicle.
- Install the A/C compressor. Refer to

- Install a new O-ring.

- Install a new O-ring.
- Install the A/C compressor hose assembly bolt to the accumulator.
Tighten
Tighten the A/C compressor hose assembly bolt to the accumulator to
16 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Install the A/C compressor hose assembly to the clip on the fan
shroud.
- Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A
.
