Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the instrument panel carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  2. Remove the heater case cover screws.
  3. Remove the heater case cover by inserting a flat bladed tool and pushing upward on the tab retainers. Push the tabs outward at the same time
  4. Release the defroster actuator from the module case by inserting a flat bladed tool and pushing the retaining tab outward.

  5. Object Number: 295315  Size: SH
  6. Twist the actuator to release it from the defroster door tab.

  7. Object Number: 704035  Size: SH
  8. Remove the door (1)  from the hinging post by pulling outward.

Installation Procedure

  1. Push the defroster door into the post, making sure the door spring is aligned.

  2. Object Number: 295315  Size: SH
  3. Install the defroster actuator arm to the defroster door post. Snap the actuator into the module.

  4. Object Number: 704035  Size: SH
  5. Install the door  (1) to the channel.
  6. Install the heater case cover by pushing the tabs inward.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the heater case screws.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the heater case screws to 1.8 N·m (16 lb in).

  10. Install the instrument panel carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
