Rear Compartment Lid Release

Release the rear compartment lid by operating the lid release switch or by pressing the release button on the key fob. The following conditions must be met for the rear compartment lid to release:

    • For automatic transmission, the park /neutral position switch must be in the PARK or NEUTRAL position.
    • For standard transmission, the park brake must be applied.

When a release command is received by the BCM through the lid release switch or through the key fob, the BCM commands battery voltage to the coil side of the lid release relay. The switch side of the lid release relay will then close and provide battery voltage through the lid release actuator and ground through one of the following switches:

    • The park/neutral position switch, for automatic transmission
    • The park brake switch, for standard transmission

Hatch Ajar Indicator

The hatch ajar indicator illuminates when the rear compartment lid is open.

The lid ajar indicator switch closes when the rear compartment is open and provides a ground path to the hatch ajar indicator in the IPC.

The IPC illuminates the hatch ajar indicator when the following conditions occur:

    • The lid ajar indicator switch closes, indicating that the hatch is open.
    • The IPC performs the displays test at the start of each ignition cycle.
