Perform the Theft Deterrent Outputs Test. Refer to On-Board Diagnostic Features in Body Control System.

Do the exterior lamps flash when enabled?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Remove the theft deterrent relay.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the theft deterrent relay coil battery voltage circuit and ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

  1. Connect a test lamp between the theft deterrent relay coil battery voltage circuit and the relay control circuit.
  2. While observing the test lamp, press the lock button on the remote control door lock transmitter.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Connect a test lamp between the theft deterrent relay switched side battery positive voltage circuit and ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp between the theft deterrent relay connector switched side battery positive voltage circuit and ground.
  2. Turn on the park lamps.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test for and repair a poor connection at the theft deterrent relay connector park lamps supply voltage circuit. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and repair a poor connection?

Replace the theft deterrent relay. Refer to Theft Deterrent Relay Replacement .

Repair the open in the battery voltage circuit of the theft deterrent relay. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the park lamps supply circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the battery voltage circuit of the theft deterrent relay coil. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Connect the test lamp between the theft deterrent relay coil battery voltage circuit and the body control module (BCM) connector reley coil control circuit.
  2. While observing the test lamp, press the lock button on the remote control door lock transmitter.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Repair the open in the theft deterrent relay control circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 16

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and repair a poor connection?

Go to Step 16

Important: When replacing the BCM, perform the relearn procedure. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
