Did you review the Exterior Lighting System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Symptoms - Lighting Systems

  1. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  2. Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.

Do the park lamps remain off?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Disconnect the headlamp switch connector.

Do the park lamps remain illuminated?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 8

  1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the C216 connector.
  3. Turn the ignition to the ON position.

Are the rear park lamps illuminated?

Go to Step 6

Are either of the front park lamps illuminated?

Repair a short to battery voltage in the park lamp supply voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair a short to battery voltage in the park lamp supply voltage circuit of the affected front park lamp. Refer to Wiring Repairs or to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  3. Expose the ambient light sensor to strong incandescent lamp (Not Applicable to Pontiac Domestic).

Disconnect the DRL module.

Are the park lamps illuminated?
