MISSING RADIO SPEAKERS 1989 'M' PASSENGER CARS

SUBJECT: MISSING RADIO SPEAKERS

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1989 'M' MODEL PASSENGER CARS BETWEEN SERIALS K700120 TO K705796

SOME 1989 'M' CARS EQUIPPED WITH A RADIO MAY HAVE BEEN SHIPPED WITH OUT THE FRONT AND REAR SPEAKERS. AVAILABILITY CONDITIONS AT THE PORT OF ENTRY NECESSITATED THE SHIPPING OF THE VEHICLES BEFORE THE SPEAKERS COULD BE INSTALLED.

AS A RESULT ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE THROUGH CANSPO TO SHIP THE REQUIRED SPEAKERS DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIPS INVOLVED.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE IS AS FOLLOWS:

FRONT SPEAKER INSTALLATION:

THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS APPLY TO EACH FRONT SPEAKER:

1. REMOVE THE FRONT SPEAKER GRILLE BY PRESSING THE TWO SMALL BUTTONS LOCATED ON EITHER SIDE OF THE GRILLE.

2. INSTALL TWO J-CLIPS OVER THE SLOTTED AREAS PROVIDED IN THE PANEL OPENING.

3. LOCATE THE SPEAKER WIRE AND CONNECTOR, AND ATTACH TO THE SPEAKER.

4. LOWER THE SPEAKER INTO THE OPENING AND ATTACH WITH SCREWS USING A RIGHT ANGLE PHILLIPS DRIVER.

5. REINSTALL THE SPEAKER GRILLE.

REAR SPEAKER INSTALLATION

1. REMOVE THE PLASTIC HATCH DOOR TRIM BY DEPRESSING THE CENTRES OF THE BUTTON FASTENERS.

2. CUT OPENINGS FOR THE SPEAKERS IN THE TRIM USING THE MOULD MARKING ON THE BACK OF THE PANEL AS A GUIDELINE.

3. FOR EACH REAR SPEAKER, INSTALL FOUR PLASTIC PANEL NUTS INTO THE SQUARE HOLES IN THE HATCH DOOR SHEET METAL PANEL SURROUNDING THE SPEAKER OPENINGS.

4. LOCATE THE SPEAKER CONNECTORS IN THE SPEAKER OPENINGS. IF NECESSARY, SECURE ANY LOOSE PARTS OR WIRING TO PREVENT RATTLING, TAKING CARE TO KEEP WIRES CLEAR OF THE REAR WIPER MECHANISM.

5. REINSTALL THE PLASTIC TRIM TO THE HATCH DOOR USING THE BUTTON FASTENERS.

6. PUNCH ACCESS HOLES FOR THE FOUR SPEAKER MOUNTING SCREWS TO ALIGN WITH THE PLASTIC PANEL NUTS FOR EACH SPEAKER.

7. CONNECT THE SPEAKER TO THE SPEAKER WIRING, AND POSITION IN THE OPENING.

8. APPLY THE SPEAKER GRILLE (16124391) TO THE FACE OF THE SPEAKER, AND SECURE THE ENTIRE SPEAKER ASSEMBLY TO THE HATCH DOOR USING FOUR SCREWS.
