This procedure pinpoints the location of the leak. In some cases, you may easily locate the leak. However, seepage-type leaks may be more difficult to isolate. In order to locate the seepage leaks, use the following method:

  1. With the engine off, wipe dry the complete power steering system.
  2. Inspect the fluid level in the reservoir.
  3. Add fluid if necessary.

  4. Start the engine.
  5. Notice: Do not hold the steering wheel in the full turn position longer than 5 seconds, as damage to the steering pump may result.

  6. Turn the steering wheel from stop to stop several times.
  7. It is easier if an assistant operates the steering wheel while you search for seepage.

  8. Find the exact area of the leak.
  9. Repair the leak.
