Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement 2 Door
Removal Procedure
- Remove the following components
from the vehicle:
• | The 2 screws that secure the rear license plate |
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove 1 screw that secures each side of the fascia (1)
to the rear quarter panel.
- Remove the 2 screws (2)
that secure the rear bumper fascia (3) to the rear bumper fascia outer
support.
- Remove the rear bumper
lower fascia mounting nut (1) from each side of the fascia.
- Remove the rear bumper
lower fascia screws (2) that secure the fascia (1).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Open the liftgate.
- Fold back the rear compartment carpet in order to gain access
to the rear compartment center trim panel retainers.
- Remove the following components from the vehicle:
• | The 9 plastic retainers that secure the rear compartment
center trim panel |
• | The rear compartment center trim panel (1) |
- Remove the rear bumper
upper fascia mounting nuts (1).
- Pull the rear bumper fascia (1)
rearward to gain access to the rear license plate lamp electrical connector.
- Disconnect the rear license plate lamp electrical connector.
- Remove the rear bumper fascia (1) from the vehicle.
- Remove the following components
from the rear bumper fascia, if necessary:
• | The 2 screws that secure the rear license plate lamp |
• | The rear license plate lamp (3) |
- Remove 6 screws (1)
that secure the rear bumper fascia brace and the impact bar (2) to
the fascia (3), if necessary.
- Remove the rear bumper fascia brace and the impact bar from the
fascia.
- Remove the rear license
plate lamp brackets (1) from the fascia (2) by gently prying
loose with a flat bladed tool, if necessary.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rear license
plate lamp brackets to the fascia, if removed.
- Install the rear bumper fascia brace and the impact bar to the
fascia, if removed. Secure the brace and impact bar with 6 screws.
- Install the rear license plate lamp (3) to the rear bumper
fascia, if removed. Secure the lamp with 2 screws.
- Connect the rear license
plate lamp electrical connector.
- Install the rear bumper fascia (1) to the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Secure the rear
bumper fascia with the upper mounting nuts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the rear bumper upper mounting nuts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install the rear compartment
center trim panel (1) to the vehicle. Secure the trim panel with the
nine plastic retainers.
- Fold the rear compartment carpet back to its original position.
- Close the liftgate.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Install the rear bumper lower fascia screws (2) that secure
the fascia (1).
- Install the rear bumper
lower fascia mounting nut (1) to each side of the fascia.
Tighten
Tighten the rear bumper lower mounting nuts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install 2 screws (2)
that secure the rear bumper fascia (3) to the rear bumper fascia outer
support.
- Install 1 screw
that secures each side of the fascia (1) to the rear quarter panel.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the rear license plate to the vehicle. Secure the license
plate with 2 screws.
Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement 4 Door
Removal Procedure
- Remove the following components
from the vehicle:
• | The 2 screws that secure the rear license plate |
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the screw that secures each side of the fascia (1)
to the rear quarter panel.
- Remove 2 screws (2)
that secure the rear bumper fascia (3) to the rear bumper fascia outer
support.
- Remove the rear bumper
lower fascia mounting nut (1) from each side of the fascia.
- Remove the rear bumper
lower fascia screws (2) that secure the fascia (1).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Open the rear compartment
lid.
- Fold back the rear compartment carpet to gain access to the rear
compartment center trim panel retainers.
- Remove the following components from the vehicle:
• | The 9 plastic retainers that secure the rear compartment
center trim panel |
• | The rear compartment center trim panel (1) |
- Position the rear compartment side trim panels aside in order
to gain access to the rear bumper upper fascia mounting bolts.
- Remove the rear bumper upper fascia mounting nut from each side
of the fascia.
- Pull the rear bumper fascia (1)
rearward in order to gain access to the rear license plate lamp electrical
connector.
- Disconnect the rear license plate lamp electrical connector.
- Remove the rear bumper fascia (1) from the vehicle.
- Remove the following components
from the rear bumper fascia, if necessary:
• | The 2 screws that secure the rear license plate lamp |
• | The rear license plate lamp (3) |
- Remove 6 screws that secure the rear bumper fascia brace
and the impact bar to the fascia, if necessary.
- Remove the rear bumper fascia brace and the impact bar from the
fascia.
- Remove the rear license
plate lamp brackets (1) from the fascia (2) by gently prying
loose with a flat bladed tool, if necessary.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rear license
plate lamp brackets to the fascia, if removed.
- Install the rear bumper fascia brace and the impact bar to the
fascia, if removed. Secure the brace and impact bar with the six screws .
- Install the rear license plate lamp (3) to the rear bumper
fascia, if removed. Secure the lamp with 2 screws.
- Connect the rear license
plate lamp electrical connector.
- Install the rear bumper fascia (1) to the vehicle.

- Reposition the rear compartment side trim panels back to the correct
position.
- Install the rear compartment
center trim panel (1) to the vehicle. Secure the trim panel with 9 plastic
retainers.
- Fold the rear compartment carpet back to its original position.
- Close the rear compartment lid.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Install the rear bumper lower fascia screws (2) that secure
the fascia (1).
- Install the rear bumper
lower fascia mounting nut (1) to each side of the fascia.
Tighten
Tighten the rear bumper lower mounting nuts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install 2 screws (2)
that secure the rear bumper fascia (3) to the rear bumper fascia outer
support.
- Install the screw that
secures each side of the fascia (1) to the rear quarter panel.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the rear license plate to the vehicle. Secure the license
plate with 2 screws.
