Removal Procedure
- Fold back the carpet and the spare tire cover in order to gain
access to the following components:
• | The plastic retaining clips of the rear end interior trim panel |
- Remove the following components from the vehicle:
• | The 9 plastic retaining clips |
• | The rear end interior trim panel |
- Disconnect the release cable from the rear compartment lid lock
striker.
- Attach a piece of mechanic's
wire (1) to the release cable (2) in order to aid in the removal
and the installation of the release cable.
- Remove the following components:
• | The 3 plastic retaining clips |
• | The left side rear sill plate |
- Gently pry the center pillar lower trim panel from the vehicle.
- Remove the lower rear quarter trim panel. Refer to
Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior
Trim.
- Remove the following components from the floor pan:
- Remove the release lever from the vehicle.
- Disconnect the cable from the vehicle.
- Remove the mechanic's wire (1) from the release cable (2).
Leave the mechanic's wire in the vehicle in order to aid in the installation.
Installation Procedure
- Attach the mechanic's
wire (1) to the new release cable (2).
- Guide the release cable into the vehicle with the mechanic's wire.
- Remove the mechanic's wire (1) from the release cable (2).
- Connect the release cable to the rear compartment lid lock striker.
- Install the release lever to the floor pan. Secure the release
lever with 2 screws.
- Install the rear end interior trim panel to the vehicle. Secure
the panel with the 9 plastic retaining clips.
- Install the lower rear quarter trim panel. Refer to
Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior
Trim.
- Install the center pillar lower trim panel to the vehicle.
- Install the left side rear sill plate to the vehicle. Secure the
plate with the plastic retaining clips.
