Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Right Front Two-Door
Removal Procedure
- Remove the following items
from the front seat:
• | The front seat belt buckle (4) |
- Remove the following components:
• | The lower anchor bolt that retains the front seat belt |
- Open the cover, and remove the following components:
• | The anchor bolt that retains the upper guide loop (1) of
the front seat belt |
- Remove the lower rear quarter trim panel. Refer to
Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior
Trim.
- Remove the following items from the vehicle:
• | The bolt that retains the front seat belt retractor |
• | The front seat belt retractor (2) |
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the front seat belt retractor (2)
to the vehicle. Secure the retractor with the following fasteners:
- | The bolt that retains the front seat belt retractor |
Tighten
Tighten the seat belt retractor bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Install the front seat belt guide loop (1) to the center
pillar. Secure the guide loop with the anchor bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the guide loop anchor bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Install the lower anchor bolt that retains the front seat belt.
Tighten
Tighten the lower anchor bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Install the front seat belt buckle (4) to the front seat.
Secure the buckle with the one bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the seat belt buckle bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Install the lower rear quarter trim panel. Refer to
Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.

Removal Procedure
- Remove the lower anchor
bolt that retains the front seat belt.
- Gently pry the lower center pillar trim panel loose. Remove the
panel from the vehicle.
- Remove the 2 screws and the seat belt guide from the center
pillar.
- Remove the screw, and remove the front seat belt retractor (5).
- Open the cover, and remove the anchor bolt that retains the upper
guide loop (1) of the front seat belt.
- Remove the bolt, and remove the front seat belt buckle (3)
from the front seat.
Installation Procedure

to the front seat. Secure the buckle with the bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the seat belt buckle bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Install the front seat belt retractor (5) to the vehicle.
Secure the retractor with the screw.
- Install the lower anchor bolt that retains the front seat belt.
Tighten
Tighten the lower anchor bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Install the front seat belt guide loop (1) to the center
pillar. Secure the guide loop with the anchor bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the guide loop anchor bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Install the seat belt guide to the center pillar. Secure the guide
with the 2 screws.
- Close the guide loop cover.
- Install the lower center pillar trim panel onto the center pillar.
