Rear Seat Belt Retractor Replacement Two-Door

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.

  2. Object Number: 184725  Size: SH
  3. Remove the lower anchor bolt that retains the seat belt (2).
  4. Remove the following components that retain the guide loop of the rear seat belt:
  5. • The plastic cover
    • The anchor bolt
    • The washers
    • The spacer
  6. Disconnect the rear speaker electrical connector, if equipped.
  7. Remove the plastic trim cover from the rear seat belt retractor (4).
  8. Remove the mounting bolt and the rear seat belt retractor (4).
  9. Remove the 2 plastic snaps that retain the carpet to the floor at the rear of the rear compartment.
  10. Complete the following steps in order to access the anchor bolt that retains the rear seat belt buckle (3):
  11. 8.1. Lift the carpet.
    8.2. Remove the spare tire cover.
  12. Remove the anchor bolt, and remove the rear seat belt buckle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 184725  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the rear seat belt buckle (3) to the vehicle. Secure the buckle with the anchor bolt.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the seat belt buckle bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  3. Install the spare tire cover, and position the rear compartment carpet into place. Secure the carpet with the two plastic snaps.
  4. Install the rear seat belt retractor (4) to the vehicle. Secure the retractor with the mounting bolt.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  6. Install the plastic trim cover to the rear seat belt retractor.
  7. Connect the rear speaker electrical connector, if equipped.
  8. Install the guide loop of the rear seat belt to the vehicle. Secure the guide loop with the following fasteners:
  9.    - The anchor bolt
       - The washers
       - The spacer
       - The plastic cover

    Tighten
    Tighten the guide loop anchor bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  10. Install the rear seat belt (2) to the vehicle. Secure the belt with the lower anchor bolt.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the rear seat belt bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  12. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.

Rear Seat Belt Retractor Replacement Four-Door

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.

  2. Object Number: 184738  Size: SH
  3. Remove the lower anchor bolt that retains the seat belt (2).
  4. Remove the following components that retain the guide loop (1) of the rear seat belt:
  5. • The plastic cover
    • The anchor bolt
    • The washers
    • The spacer
  6. Remove the lower rear seat.
  7. Remove the 3 plastic retainer clips from the rear back seat side trim. Gently position the rear back seat side trim so that the seat belt (2) can be fed through the opening to the rear compartment.
  8. Feed the seat belt (2) through the opening.
  9. Open the rear compartment lid.
  10. Reposition the rear compartment interior trim in order to gain access to the rear seat belt retractor (4).
  11. Remove the mounting bolt and the rear seat belt retractor (4) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Feed the seat belt (2) through the opening.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   3. Install the rear seat belt retractor (4) to the vehicle. Secure the retractor with the mounting bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the seat belt retractor bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  5. Install the guide loop (1) of the rear seat belt to the vehicle. Secure the guide loop with the following fasteners:
  6.    - The anchor bolt
       - The washers
       - The spacer
       - The plastic cover

    Tighten
    Tighten the guide loop anchor bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  7. Reposition the rear seat side trim around the seat belt. Secure the side trim with the 3 plastic retainer clips.
  8. Raise the rear seat.

  9. Install the rear seat belt (2) to the vehicle. Secure the belt with the lower anchor bolt.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the rear seat belt bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  11. Install the rear seat belt buckle (3) to the vehicle. Secure the buckle with the anchor bolt.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the seat belt buckle bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  13. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
