For 1990-2009 cars only
- Adjust the toe by changing the tie rod length.
- Loosen the boot clamps (small end) and slide off of the boot.
- Apply a small amount of grease between the tie rods and boot contact points to prevent the boots from becoming twisted.
- Loosen the right and left tie rod locknuts, then turn right and left tie rods and set the front total toe to 0 to 0.32 degrees.
- Verify that the right and left tie rods are equal in length (1).
- Install the boot clamps (1).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Important: Verify that the rack boots are not twisted.
Tighten
Tighten the tie rod end locknuts to 43 N·m (33 lb ft).
