Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Drain the engine oil from the engine crankcase.
- Disconnect the rear heated oxygen (HO2S) sensor.
- Remove the catalytic converter upper flange nuts from the exhaust manifold and the bolts from the bracket.
- Remove the nuts from the front muffler pipe to the connecting pipe.
- Remove the oil pan retaining bolts.
- Remove the oil pan from the engine block.
Installation Procedure
- Make sure that the oil pan and mounting surface on the engine block are free of all oil and debris.
- Install the oil pan gasket to the oil pan.
Important: Install the oil pan within 5 minutes after applying liquid gasket to the oil pan.
- Install the oil pan to the engine block.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the oil pan retaining bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the oil pan retaining bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the catalytic converters-to-exhaust manifold nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the catalytic converter-to-exhaust manifold nuts and bracket bolts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Install the nuts from the front muffler pipe to the connecting pipe and catalytic converter.
Tighten
Tighten the front muffler-to-connecting pipe nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
- Connect the rear heated oxygen sensor connector.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Discard the used oil pan drain plug washer and replace it with a new one.
- Install the oil pan drain plug.
Tighten
Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 35 N·m (25 lb ft).
- Refill the engine crankcase with engine oil.
