This bulletin is being revised to alert the dealers of an important change to the correction information. Dealers are not to install the primary fuel filter that is contained in the service kit. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 06-06-04-047 (Section 06 -- Engine/Propulsion System).
Some customers may comment on the Service Engine Soon (SES) light being illuminated. This condition may be intermittent and upon investigation, the technician may find DTCs P0171, P0300 or P1133 set as current or in history. Additional comments may include a lack of power, the engine cranks but does not start, or a hard start condition.
This condition may be caused by low fuel pressure due to collapsing of the external fuel strainer on the fuel pump.
Notice: DO NOT install the primary fuel filter contained in the kit. This filter must be discarded. Only the fuel pump from the kit should be installed. Fuel pump damage may occur if the new filter is installed.
Replace the fuel pump with the pump that is included in service kit, P/N 15947510. Refer to the Fuel Pump Replacement (RPO NU6) procedure in SI.
