Preliminary Procedures

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the rear transaxle mount. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Replacement for the Getrag 5 speed manual transmission, or Transmission Rear Mount Replacement for the MU3 manual transmission, or Transmission Rear Mount Replacement for the 4T40-E/4T45-E transaxle .

Front Stabilizer Shaft Link Lower Nut (Qty: 2)

Tip
Remove only the lower stabilizer shaft link nuts.

Tighten
65 N·m (48 lb ft)

Front Stabilizer Shaft Clamp Nut (Qty: 2)

Tighten
50 N·m (37 lb ft)

Front Stabilizer Shaft Clamp Bolt (Qty: 2)

Tighten
50 N·m (37 lb ft)

Front Stabilizer Shaft Insulator

Tip
Place the cut line of the insulator facing the rear of the vehicle.

Front Stabilizer Shaft

Tip
Remove the front stabilizer shaft from the right side of the vehicle.

Stabilizer Shaft Replacement FE1/FE3

Removal Procedure
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the front wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the rear transaxle mount. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Replacement for the Getrag 5 Speed transmission, or Transmission Rear Mount Replacement for the MU3 transmission, or Transmission Rear Mount Replacement for the 4T40-E/4T45-E transaxle.
  4. Remove the steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement.
  5. Disconnect the stabilizer links from the stabilizer shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .

  6. Remove the stabilizer bar mounting clamp bolts and clamps from both sides of the vehicle.

    7. Object Number: 851718 Size: SH
  7. Remove the bushings from the stabilizer bar.
  8. Lift and rotate the stabilizer bar up and to the right.
  9. Carefully remove the stabilizer bar from the right side of the vehicle.

Installation Procedure
  1. Move the stabilizer bar into position from the right side of the vehicle.

    2. Object Number: 851718 Size: SH
  2. Install the stabilizer bushings on the stabilizer bar with the cut line facing rearward.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the stabilizer bar clamps and bolts.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  4. Connect the stabilizer links to the stabilizer shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
  5. Install the steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement.
  6. Install the rear transaxle mount. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Replacement for the Getrag 5 Speed transmission, or Transmission Rear Mount Replacement for the MU3 transmission, or Transmission Rear Mount Replacement for the 4T40-E/4T45-E transaxle.
  7. Install the front wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
