Subject:Remote Start Is Inoperative After Installing a New BCM

Models:2006-2008 Chevrolet Cobalt
2006 Pontiac Pursuit
2007-2008 Pontiac G5

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

If you have a Remote Vehicle Start (RVS) inoperative issue after installing a new BCM, follow the instructions below.

Recommendation/Instructions:

There are two things to look at when setting up a NEW BCM as RVS will be inoperative if not done correctly.

  1. When setting up a NEW BCM you may have an additional option in the BCM setup menu. This additional option (last one) on the list will be RVS (Remote Vehicle Start) and very easy to overlook when setting up a NEW BCM. You might start off with (example) 16 options with a NEW BCM however after the BCM is set up you will now only have 15 options.
  2. If you don't see the RVS option on the configuration list even with a NEW BCM, then you will have to turn the option on via the SPS pass-through programming method. When you SPS pass-through with TIS-2-Web you will see on the list "Remote Start Enable".

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
