Makes 🢒 Pontiac 🢒 2006 🢒 G6 🢒 Body 🢒 Exterior Trim 🢒 Headlamp Assembly or Headlamp Bulb and/or Cornering, Sidemarker, Park, Turn Signal Bulb Replacement

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Halogen bulbs contain gas under pressure. Handling a bulb improperly could cause it to shatter into flying glass fragments. To help avoid personal injury:

       • Turn off the lamp switch and allow the bulb to cool before changing the bulb.
       • Leave the lamp switch OFF until the bulb change is complete.
       • Always wear eye protection when changing a halogen bulb.
       • Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass.
       • Keep dirt and moisture off the bulb.
       • Properly dispose of the used bulb.
       • Keep halogen bulbs out of the reach of children.

  1. Open the hood.

    2. Object Number: 1215815 Size: SH

    Important: Hold the headlamp to prevent damage to the headlamp or to the fascia.

  2. Remove the bolts from the headlamp assembly.
  3. Remove the push-in-retainers across the front fascia.
  4. Pull the headlamp forward to release the locating tab from the front of the fender, then lift the headlamp up to release from vehicle.

  5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the headlamp assembly.
  6. Remove the headlamp bulb access cover (3) by rotating the headlamp bulb access cover counterclockwise, if necessary.
  7. Remove the headlamp bulb from the housing by rotating the socket counterclockwise, if necessary.
  8. Disconnect the headlamp bulb electrical connector, if necessary.
  9. Remove the park/turn bulb access cover by rotating the cover counterclockwise, if necessary.
  10. Remove the park/turn bulb from the housing by rotating the socket counterclockwise, if necessary.

  11. Gently pull the park/turn bulb from the socket , if necessary.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1221597 Size: SH
  1. Install the park/turn bulb into the bulb socket.

    2. Object Number: 1466888 Size: SH
  2. Install the park/turn bulb socket into the headlamp housing by rotating the socket clockwise.
  3. Install the park/turn bulb access cover (3) by rotating the cover clockwise.
  4. Connect the headlamp bulb to the headlamp electrical connector.
  5. Install the headlamp bulb into the headlamp housing. Rotate the socket clockwise until locked.
  6. Install the headlamp bulb access cover by rotating the cover clockwise.

    7. Object Number: 1215815 Size: SH
  7. Position the headlamp assembly to the vehicle.

    8. Press the headlamp downward to engage the locating tabs to the front edge of the fender.

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  8. Install the bolts to the headlamp assembly.

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Install the push-in-retainers across the front fascia.
  10. Close the hood.
  11. Inspect the headlamp alignment. Adjust the headlamp alignment, if necessary. Refer to Headlamp Aiming .
