Subject:Rubbing Noise From Front Tires When Turning

Models:2007-2008 Pontiac G6

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

There is a potential to have slight front tire contacting the plastic inner wheel well liner on some vehicles during LEFT OR RIGHT turns.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Please inspect the left and right side wheel well liner (front edge) for contact:

  1. If there is evidence of contact remove the front tire and the plastic wheel well liner.
  2. Inspect the body seams behind the liner for excessive sealant causing the liner to not fit properly against the sheet metal.
  3. Remove any excessive body sealer that may be keeping the plastic wheel well from properly fitting against the body sheet metal.

Once the excessive sealer is removed, re-install a wheel well liner making sure the push pins are fully seated to ensure enough clearance between the liner and the tire on full turns.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
