Subject: | Battery Dead/Park Lamps Stay On |
Models: | 2008 Pontiac G6 |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
A customer might comment of a dead battery condition and or notice that on occasion their park-lights stay on. This condition could be caused by a wiring Short To Ground (STG) in the trunk area. On the left side in the front of the trunk area, there is a wiring harness pass-through area that could possibly develop a STG in the body harness.
So far the ONLY reported concern has for the park lamps staying on. Due to the number of circuits in this harness, it could be possible for other circuits to also be affected.
Remove rear trunk trim to inspect the wire harness on left side in the area of the rear seat back for possible STG condition. TAC cases indicate that ckt 1080 was grounded at rear shelf metal edge pulling park lamps relay on.
Please inspect the entire pass-through area for chaffing to ground.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
