Power Steering Pump Replacement LZ4, LZ9

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement for the 3.5L engine or Intake Manifold Cover Replacement for the 3.9L engine.
  2. Remove the drive belt and engine mount snubber. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement for the 3.5L engine or Drive Belt Replacement for the 3.9L engine.
  3. Remove the drive belt idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement for the 3.5L engine or Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement for the 3.9L engine.
  4. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement for the 3.5L engine or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement for the 3.9L engine.
  5. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.

Engine Lift Bracket Bolt (Qty: 3)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
50 N·m (37 lb ft)

Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Fitting

Tip

    • Use an appropriate tool to remove the power steering fluid from the reservoir before removing the hoses from the pump.
    • Use a new O-ring seal for installation.

Tighten
27 N·m (20 lb ft)

Power Steering Reservoir Inlet Pipe/Hose

Procedure

Compress the clamp and to disconnect the return hose from the power steering reservoir.

Power Steering Pump Bolt (Qty: 3)

Tighten
25 N·m (18 lb ft)

Procedure

After installation, fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
