Warning: Refer to Cleaning Solvent Warning in the Preface section.
- Clean the coolant crossover pipe with solvent.
Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning in the Preface section.
- Dry the coolant crossover pipe with compressed air.
- Inspect the front of the coolant crossover pipe for the following:
• | Damage to the coolant fill adapter sealing surface (1) |
• | Damage or restrictions to the radiator hose connection (2) |
• | Damage or restrictions to the thermal bypass hose connection (3) |
• | Damage, blockage, or excessive corrosion to the engine coolant passages |
• | Damage or restrictions to any fastener threads |
• | Damage or restrictions to any mounting holes |
- Inspect the rear of the coolant crossover pipe for the following:
• | Damage to the heater inlet/outlet sealing surface (1) |
• | Damage to the coolant crossover pipe-to-cylinder head sealing surfaces (2) |
• | Damage, blockage, or excessive corrosion to the engine coolant passages |
• | Damage or restrictions to any fastener threads |
• | Damage or restrictions to any mounting holes |
- Repair or replace the coolant crossover pipe as necessary.
