Removal Procedure

    Note: All shift cable and park lock cable clips are one time usage only. Any service repair requiring cables to be disconnected from the transaxle control cable bracket or shift assembly will require a cable clip replacement.

  1. Remove the console. Refer to Console Replacement.
  2. Set the park brake.

  3. Object Number: 1556719  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the shift cable (2) from the control assembly pin.
  5. Remove the shift cable retainer clip and remove the cable (1) from the control assembly.

  6. Object Number: 1556721  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the park lock cable assembly (2) from the pin on the control assembly.
  8. Depress the tab on the park lock cable and remove the cable (1) from the control assembly. Discard the park lock cable clip.

  9. Object Number: 944353  Size: SH
  10. Disconnect the control assembly electrical connectors.

  11. Object Number: 1556723  Size: SH
  12. Remove the nuts from the control assembly.
  13. Remove the control assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1556723  Size: SH
  1. Install the control assembly.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the control assembly bolts and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
  4. Release the park brake.

  5. Object Number: 944353  Size: SH
  6. Connect the control assembly electrical connectors.

  7. Object Number: 1556721  Size: SH
  8. Install the park lock cable (1) onto the control assembly using the original clip.
  9. Connect the park lock cable (2) onto the control assembly pin.

  10. Object Number: 1556719  Size: SH
  11. Install the shift cable (1) onto the control assembly. Secure with a new shiftier cable retainer clip.
  12. Connect the shifter cable (2) onto the control assembly pin.
  13. Install the console. Refer to Console Replacement.
