Removal Procedure
- Turn the ignition OFF.
- Remove the oil filter adapter cap (1) from the engine oil filter adapter (3).
- Remove the oil filter cartridge (2).
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Place a suitable container below the oil pan drain plug (1).
- Remove the oil pan drain plug (1) from the oil pan (2).
- Allow the oil to drain completely.
Important: Use a six-point socket to remove the oil filter cap (1).
Important: The oil filter cartridge (2) must be replaced at every service interval.
Discard the oil filter cartridge (2).

Installation Procedure
- Install the oil pan drain plug (1) to the oil pan (2).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Lubricate the oil filter cap threads with clean engine oil.
- Install the NEW oil filter cartridge (2).
- Install the oil filter cap (1) to the engine oil filter adapter (3).
- Fill the engine with the appropriate oil type and quantity. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations and Approximate Fluid Capacities .
- Reset the service reminder display. Refer to Service Display Reminders .
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Tighten
Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 25 N·m
(18 lb ft).

Tighten
Tighten the oil filter cap to 25 N·m
(18 lb ft).
