Vanity Mirrors Reading / Map Lights Trunk Lamp And Heated Seat Switch LEDs Inoperative - keywords inadvertant power fuse

Subject:Vanity Mirrors, Reading/Map Lamps, Trunk Lamp, and Heated Seat Switch LEDs Inoperative

Models:2008 Pontiac G8

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Customer may comment that the reading/map lamp, sunvisor vanity mirror lamps, trunk lamp, and/or the heated seat switch L.E.D.s are inoperative.

Recommendation/Instructions:

  1. Remove both the driver and passenger side sunvisors and inspect the wiring in the immediate area for being pinched or chaffing. If wire damage is found repair the wiring per SI procedures.
  2. Inspect the INADV/PWR/LED fuse for being open. Replace the fuse if it is open.

Note: In cases where there is a resistive short, the INADV/PWR/LED fuse will not be open. If there is a resistive short to ground the BCM will detect a slight increase in current draw and enter self protection mode. The BCM will exit self protection mode after the concern is corrected and the ignition key is cycled. Do NOT replace the BCM for this concern.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
