Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning in the Preface section.
Danger: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the
opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the front and rear wheels. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Open the front and rear doors affected side of the vehicle.
- Remove the front wheelhouse liner to rocker panel retaining screws (1).
- Remove the rear wheelhouse liner to rocker panel retaining screws (1).
- Pull the bottom edge of the rocker panel moulding away from the rocker panel to disengage the retainers.
- Use a suitable tool to gently separate the front of the rocker panel moulding from the rocker panel.
- With the aid of an assistant, carefully remove the rocker panel moulding from the body.
Note: The rocker panel moulding retaining clips (1 and 2) are single use parts. They must be discarded after removal.
- Remove the rocker panel moulding retaining clips (1 and 2) from the rocker panel moulding (3).
Discard the retaining clips.
Installation Procedure
Note: New retainer clips (1 and 2) are required for the installation of the rocker panel moulding (3). The retainer clips (1 and 2) will break upon removal.
Note: Protect the paint and body work with tape or a clean cloth. Failure to do so may result in damage to painted surfaces.
- Install all new rocker panel retaining clips (1 and 2) into the rocker panel moulding (3).
- With the aid of an assistant, position the rocker panel moulding to the body.
- Starting from the centre of the rocker panel moulding, apply pressure to secure the rocker panel moulding retaining clips to the upper part of the rocker panel.
- Starting from the centre of the rocker panel moulding, apply pressure to secure the rocker panel moulding retaining clips to the lower part of the rocker panel.
- Close the vehicle doors.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the rear wheelhouse liner to rocker panel retaining screws (1) and tighten to
2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the front wheelhouse liner to rocker panel retaining screws (1) and tighten to
2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the front and rear wheels. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Close the front and rear doors.
