Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
- Disconnect the electronic brake control module (EBCM)
harness connector (4).
- Remove the 6 brake pipes from the brake modulator assembly (2).
- Plug the brake pipes in order to prevent loss or contamination of brake
fluid.
- Remove 2 nuts (1) from the brake pressure modulator.
- Remove the brake pressure modulator assembly from the bracket (3).
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the brake pressure modulator assembly (2) to the bracket (3).
Secure with 2 nuts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the brake modulator assembly nuts to 8.5 N·m (75 lb in).
- Remove the plugs from brake pipes and connect the brake pipes to the brake
modulator assembly (2).
Tighten
Tighten the brake pipe fittings nuts to 9.5 N·m (84 lb in).
- Connect the EBCM electrical connector (4).
- Bleed the brake system. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
in Hydraulic Brakes.
- Perform
Diagnostic System Check - ABS
.
