Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 208436  Size: SH
  1. Lift the fluid level indicator handle lock up.

  2. Object Number: 208423  Size: SH
  3. Remove the fluid level indicator.

  4. Object Number: 208459  Size: SH
  5. Remove the bolt attaching the fill tube to the cylinder head.

  6. Object Number: 165576  Size: SH
  7. Remove the fill tube and seal from the transmission.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 165576  Size: SH
  1. Insert the seal into the automatic transmission case hole.
  2. Install the fill tube to the transmission.

  3. Object Number: 208459  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the transmission bolt attaching the fill tube to the cylinder head.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the fill tube bolt to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  6. Check the transmission fluid level.
  7. Fill the transmission to the proper level with DEXRON® III transmission fluid. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check .

  9. Push the fluid level indicator handle lock down.
